Bruce Springsteen predstavio je treću pjesmu s dugoočekivane kompilacije Tracks II: The Lost Albums – riječ je o atmosferičnoj akustičnoj baladi Faithless, koja nosi ime po nikad objavljenom albumu nastalom sredinom 2000-ih.
Pjesma Faithless potječe s istoimenog albuma snimljenog između kraja turneje Devils & Dust u studenom 2005. i izlaska albuma We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions u travnju 2006. Album je izvorno bio zamišljen kao glazbena podloga za istoimeni film – “duhovni vestern” koji nikada nije realiziran.
Radilo se o zaista neobičnoj zbirci pjesama, prisjetio se Springsteen. „Možda se moglo naslutiti poneki detalj ili lik, ali većinom sam pisao glazbu koja je stvarala atmosferu za koju sam osjećao da bi mogla pristajati filmu.”
Zanimljivo, album Faithless snimljen je prije nego što je uopće započelo snimanje filma, a uz naslovnu pjesmu sadrži još četiri instrumentalne skladbe koje su bile predviđene za soundtrack.
Iako je većinom riječ o solo projektu snimanom u Floridi tijekom dva tjedna, na pjesmi Faithless pridružuju mu se i članovi prateće postave s E Street Band turneja: Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Curtis King Jr., Michelle Moore i Ada Dyer, kao i njegova supruga Patti Scialfa i producent Ron Aniello.
Faithless je treći singl s kompilacije Tracks II: The Lost Albums, koja službeno izlazi 27. lipnja. Kolekcija obuhvaća sedam dosad neobjavljenih albuma i više od 80 pjesama snimanih između 1983. i 2018. Prije nje objavljene su pjesme Rain in the River s albuma Perfect World i Blind Spot iz faze Streets of Philadelphia Sessions.
